Sohar International School Building Construction Muscat Oman

School

Construction of school building consisting of ground, first and second floors with a range of supporting facilities and occupying 80 classrooms with a total built up area of approx. 16,600 m2.

Scope of Work

Sohar International School is a large school providing for the increasing demand for quality schools in Muscat. It consists of three levels (ground, first and second) and 80 classrooms in total, in an area of approximately 16,600 square meters. In addition to the 80 classrooms, the project also provided all the necessary spaces for a school, including hallways, offices, and building systems to maintain a comfortable and safe environment for every classroom on three floors. The project required careful planning as there were so many similar spaces to construct and it had to have a smooth transition between each floor. The completed school provides classrooms and other important facilities in one organised campus. With its large size and well-planned spaces, it is an important educational project in the region.

Our Role

During the project Daan Shaaban was responsible for managing costs and contracts. School buildings typically must be completed by a deadline, frequently prior to the start of a school year, and maintaining a budget and schedule were particularly significant. We made sure to have clear documentation for all tasks, which minimized the risk of any issues, and if there were any changes, our understanding of the contract helped us reach a mutually beneficial agreement. To inspect the work floor by floor, rather than waiting for the entire building to be finished.

Result

With careful cost control and clear contract management, Sohar International School is now a modern, well-equipped facility for students' learning in Muscat.
